Cellar Notes with Marc

Gday Tigers!  How are we travelling today Ramjets?  Ok so let’s start with the sad news.  I’m really gutted to write this but, alas the Aussies are packing up and heading home.  Unfortunately, after some blind referring (red is not the same colour as yellow), blatant dives which would make the Olympic swimming team proud (some teams just haven’t changed after 4 years) and just plain old fashioned sad plays, the Socceroos are out of the World Cup.  Sad to see them go, and now I don’t want to talk about it anymore. 

Onto a good note, I did survive the arduous journey back to Canada.  Hang about, maybe that should in the above “sad” paragraph?  Nah, it’s sweet to be back in the land of the red leaf.  So let’s chat about winemaking. You will all be stoked to read that I’ve started bottling the 07 Ressies, ohhhhh yeah baby, you read right!  The Merlot Ressie has been traptified with my good mate Rick VanSickle giving her a solid write-up.  Cheers mate.  Next week the plan is to see if we can further snare the 07 Cab Sauv Ressie, along with the 4 big gun Family Ressies (Merlot, Cab Sauv, Cab Franc and of course the pièce de résistance, the Triv).  Can’t wait!  I will let all you punters know when these bad boys are released so you can swing by for a captains.

Ok what else, hmmmmm well we’ve been holding our own in comps of late.  Some really good wins, with my favs being a Gold and the Canadian Trophy for my 08 Riesling Icewine at Les Citadelles du Vin, and the Silver and Best in Class for my 08 Sweet Blonde Icewine (remember her, she is my white Icewine blend – the sister of my Sticky Beak).  Yeah super stoked that my Icewine blends have done so well over the past couple years.  Yay me!

Ok so the New Vintage Tailgate Extravaganza bash was on last weekend out at the Grape King’s farm, and yeah not a bad gig at all.  Hot as buggery, so if you a) didn’t wear sunscreen, b) didn’t have a hat, c) didn’t eat and/or d) drank heaps of wine, then the chances are you were going to be found next day crashed in the vineyard still wondering what happened the night before.  Well not me personally, you know the policy on me pouring at these events! We poured some 07 Cab Sauv, 09 Gewurz Riesling and 07 Chard Icewine.  Cheers for anyone who swung by.

Ok time to wrap this puppy up, gotta go taste some wines or something.  Heaps to do before my little Tannin has her swim class this arvo, she’s such a natural you can see the Aussie blood in her.  Ok keep it real, don’t forget it you have that  Facebook or Twitter, then look me up and maybe, just maybe, I could be your friend.  Ok so keep on truckin and throw one down for me.
